Victor
Dol Building
Los
Angeles, California
M2A completed
facade restoration and seismic upgrade and reconstruction of this
two-story commercial building (circa 1928) in the Broadway National
Register District. Destroyed by fire in the civil disturbances
of 1992, only portions of the original stone facade and miscellaneous
ornamental iron work survived. Substantial research was required
to restore or recreate original stone, tile and ornamental metal
work. Several pieces were generated from original photo documentation,
others salvaged from the owner's ranch. A recipient of a 1994
Preservation Award from the Los Angeles Conservancy, this structure
has been owned by the same family since it was first constructed.
